Winter & Spring 2008

    February

  • Sunday 3rd

     Llangattock to Talybont. Starting from the canal and climbing the Brinore Tram road to gain views of Talybont reservoir, with an option to climb Tor-y-Foel for a more strenuous walk. returning along the canal along part of the Usk Valley Walk.

        Easy                    8 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 10th

       From Blaenavon Leisure Centre to Pontypool via the crash site of the WWII Blenheim Bomber and Mynydd Garn Wen.

         Moderate              12 Miles.

 

  •   Sunday 17th

         From Cwmtillery Lakes over Mynydd Coety to Carlo's Grave and The Whistle Inn.

          Moderate            8 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 24th

       A walk from Abergavenny Castle through Llanfoist and Llanelen to Castle Arnallt, using the canal towpath and part of the Usk Valley Walk. Returning over Ysgyryd Fach.

        Easy                   8 Miles.

 

   March

 

  • Sunday 2nd

      From the Clytha Castle along the Usk Valley Walk, passing an ancient Broadleaf wood owned by The Gwent Wildlife Trust, through the golf course to Bettws Newydd Church, then a moderate climb to Coed y Bwnydd Hill Fort. Returning past Clytha Castle.

       Moderate           8 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 9th

       The Ysgyryd Fawr Circuit. A walk to the summit of Ysgyryd Fawr then down to Llangattock Llingoed. Returning along Offa's Dyke footpath, Pant-y-Tyle and Llwyn Franc.

        Moderate          8 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 16th

       From Llandegfedd Reservoir to Llandegfedd Village through Pentre Waun. Returning to Llandegfedd Reservoir.

        Moderate          7 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 23rd 

       A circular walk from Brynmawr to Pwll-du, via the Mulfran mountain and returning along the old Brynmawr to Abergavenny railway line.

         Moderate         11 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 30th

      From Ynys Hywel to Mynydd Islwyn Church and Cwmfelinfach. Returning along the Sirhowy Valley Walk.

         Moderate       8 Miles.

 

 

  April

 

  • Sunday 6th

       Llanvetherine to White Castle, including part of the Three Castles Walk to Llantillio Crosseny and returning along Offa's Dyke footpath to Caggle Street and Llanvetherine.

        Moderate          8 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 13th

       Rhondda Valley Circular from Treorchy to Werfa, via Cwm Parc and Craig - Fawr . Returning along Craig - Ogwr and Mynydd Maendy.

        Moderate         8 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 20th

       From Bedwelty Park, Tredegar to the top of Mynydd Bedwellty, continuing to The Rocking Stone, and Holybush. Returning along the old railway line.

        Moderate          8 Miles.

 

  • Sunday 27th   

       Llanfrynach Circular. a walk to the summits of Cribyn and Fan y Big by way fo Bryn Teg. Returning along the Cefn Cyff Ridge.

         Moderate          11 miles.

 

     The Stepping Stones Walks Programme will run from April - September 2008.
